Why did you join the King’s Kids team?
I’ve always served in kids in previous places I went to church and they needed people to serve in King’s Kids, specifically the nursery, and I never worked in that age group before but that’s where they needed people.
What do you enjoy most about serving?
Seeing the kids and getting to be a part of their week. It’s exciting when they’re excited to come in, and I really enjoy getting to know the other people serving. It’s fun to get to be a part of something that’s bigger than yourself.
As a believer, why do you think serving in the church is important?
I think we’re all called to share the Gospel and make Christ known. When you serve, you’re able to create an environment where people get to share the love of Christ and they get to know Him and know that there’s a plan and purpose for their life and it’s important we all take part in that.
How has serving affected your church experience on a weekly basis?
My Sunday looks different than just coming to church. I’m a lot more plugged-in. I get there earlier and I stay later. I talk to a lot more people than I would if I was just coming to the church service, so I feel more a part of things.
What would you say to someone who is considering serving on a team?
Do it – don’t wait! Don’t be afraid and don’t think you’re not good enough or you don’t have a certain skillset. Don’t be afraid to do it – just do it because you’ll be thinking, “Why didn’t I do this before?”
