14 Apr Meet The Team: Find out more about Joel and Anna
We want to give you a chance to get to know the amazing group of people who are on our team here at King’s Church! Check out our blog for new profile pieces with our King’s family.
Joel and Anna
Joel and Anna are part of the King’s Church lead team where Joel serves as the Director of Setup and Teardown and (coming soon) Outreach! Anna serves in King’s Kids.
How did you meet?
We met in college in Florida and had mutual friends introduce us. We both realized we were from the Cleveland area, and the rest is history!
How many kids do you have?
Judah, 3 years old; and Leighton, 1 year old.
What do you do for a living?
Joel: I’m an 8th grade math teacher at Garfield Middle School in Lakewood.
Anna: I work with our family’s business, which is a home health care agency. I also work with people applying for disability through the state of Ohio. And I am a mom! I call myself a stay-at-home-working mom. The best of both worlds.
How did you get connected to King’s Church?
Joel met Pastor Noah at Love is Red, a conference at Faith Family Church in Canton. After chatting about the heart and vision of the church, as well as praying about jumping on board, God really opened door after door and confirmed to us that King’s Church was where He was leading us.
What do you love most about being part of the team?
We love being able to be a part of a community that is reaching and influencing Cleveland for Jesus.
What are the first 3 words that come to mind when you think of King’s?
Joel: Home, intentional, Jesus-first
Anna: Impactful, community, refreshing
Joel: The story where a group of friends tear through a roof to lower their paralyzed friend into the over-crowded room where Jesus is teaching. The visual I have of this story is just amazing! (Luke 5:17-26)
Anna: “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:5-9)
Favorite Bible character?
Joel: Umm, Jesus? Is this a trick question? Second place is Peter.
Where is your favorite spot to hang out in Cleveland?
We love Crocker Park a lot. Shopping, restaurants, and walking around outside is awesome! Honorable mentions: Lakewood park, or other places on the water, The Q, and Jacob’s (yes.) Field.
What’s the last thing you Googled?
Joel: Nest thermostat coupon codes (gotta save money)
Anna: Things to do in Pittsburgh besides TP Heinz Field (Joel added that last part. Anna doesn’t know what Heinz Field is.)
What is the last song you downloaded?
Joel: The new Elevation Worship album. Although, this question makes me think of Napster. I guess you can technically still “download” music on Spotify.
Anna: “Kings of My Heart” by John Mark McMillan.
Joel: I’m really good at skiing. Forward, backwards, doesn’t matter. I will beat you in a race! Either that, or some say eating cupcakes for money.
Anna: I’m double jointed in my thumbs, so I can bend my thumb backwards to my wrist.
If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, which one would it be and why?
Joel: Polar Bear. That’s my spirit animal.
Anna: A cat, so I can take a lonnnng nap.
